A prayerful poem

Sadness surrounds me like a vast and stormy ocean,
my soul tossed and turned by the churning waves.
Fate is a cruel master,
giggling with madness
at the destruction in the storm.

Once, it was a calm and peaceful place,
Azure blue water under a cloudless sky.

Now, angry grey…

The Queen has died,
The bells will toll,
Still the night moon rises,

The people mourn,
The news reflects,
Still the night moon rises,

The Queen has passed,
Charles is King,
Still the night moon rises,

The world shifted,
In a final breath,
Still the night moon rises.

A sullen sky seldom seen
flashes daytime darkness.

Zoom out and look down at Earth,
filtered in black and white.

Silent darkness stretches from East to West
until a cry is heard,
even here, in space, somehow.

A crack forms in the globe’s black blanket,
bright luminescence,
pure.

Light pours…
